For our client, we are seeking a Distinguished Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will lead initiatives at the intersection of scalable technology, AI-enabled capabilities, and business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and long-term innovation within a consumer-facing environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $169,000 – $338,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and technical strategy for core eCommerce site platforms
- Drive execution on large-scale eCommerce initiatives, managing architecture decisions and delivery risks
- Promote collaboration between engineering, product, UX/design, and business partners
- Define and advocate for target state architecture and migration approaches
- Establish engineering standards and ensure adherence to best practices
- Shape delivery processes to enhance predictability and throughput
- Design and implement monitoring and observability patterns for site performance
- Partner with SRE/ops on performance tuning and incident response improvements
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related fields
- Proven track record in technical leadership or architecture roles on large-scale eCommerce platforms
- Advanced proficiency in Lua scripting and experience with Akamai and Torbit
- Deep understanding of eCommerce initiatives addressing multi-market complexities (e.g., localization and regulatory compliance)
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and CI/CD practices
