Are you a software engineer with a legal background looking for an opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI applications? We are seeking a creative backend engineer to develop AI-driven solutions for the legal industry.

About the Role:

In this role, you will build applications that integrate with state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs) to assist legal professionals in their daily work. These AI-powered tools help attorneys draft research memos, summarize documents, review contracts, and more—all within minutes.

As a Software Engineer, Legal Prompter, you will develop backend Python code and craft detailed natural language prompts to optimize AI performance. This position is ideal for someone with strong programming skills and a deep understanding of legal concepts.

Responsibilities:

• Develop Python-based backend services interacting with LLMs.
• Design and test natural language prompts to ensure legally accurate and contextually relevant AI responses.
• Build and integrate APIs and SQL-based data services.
• Collaborate with legal professionals to refine AI capabilities.
• Implement multi-step workflows to optimize LLM interactions.
• Assess model performance and iterate on solutions for better accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Legal domain expertise (JD, paralegal, or experience in the legal industry).
• 1–2 years of software engineering experience in a production environment (preferably at a startup).
• Proficiency in Python (or strong experience in another language with the ability to transition).
• Familiarity with APIs and SQL is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Clear and effective technical and natural language writing skills.
• Experience working with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, or open-source models) is preferred.
