We’ve partnered with a global leader in legal, tax, and compliance technology to identify a Director of Research Engineering for a pivotal role leading AI innovation in our clients next-generation Tax platform.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven tax, accounting, and audit workflows, leading a world-class team of machine learning engineers within our the R&D/Labs team. If you're passionate about bringing applied AI from concept to scale—and thrive in complex, cross-functional ML Engineering environments—this is a role worth exploring.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 15+ ML Engineers
• Drive full-lifecycle development of production-grade ML systems
• Collaborate with Applied Scientists, Product, UX, and Engineering teams
• Guide implementation of LLM applications, including RAG and agentic architectures
• Ensure scalable, maintainable, and secure ML infrastructure on cloud (AWS/Azure)
• Represent the engineering vision in internal and external stakeholder settings

Qualifications:

• 10+ years in software development, including 3+ years building ML-powered products
• 5+ years leading engineering teams in agile, cross-functional environments
• Strong background integrating ML solutions into scalable production systems
• Prior exposure to NLP-focused challenges: NER, IR, IE, etc.
• Deep experience with LLM applications, orchestration frameworks, and modern MLOps tools
• Technical fluency with Python, cloud-native architecture (AWS preferred), containerization, and ML/AI libraries
