SNI Technology's top client located in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking to hire a talented Web Designer/Developer for an exciting contract(to-hire) opportunity! Please note this is a part-time, 20-hour-per-week position with 1 day per week required onsite working out of the Colorado Springs main-office location.
Job Description
Web Designer/Developer (Part-Time)
Responsible for web design and front-end and back-end development, primarily working with WordPress themes and plugins but also updating hard-coded sites. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding commonly used HTML/CSS layouts and hex color, font and whitespace choices). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive and adaptive design and an understanding of the entire web development process including planning, design, development and deployment is required. Experience with e-commerce functionality preferred.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% of Time)
- Site map strategy, website design and development.
- Establishing and guiding the website's architecture.
- Ensuring high-performance and availability and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.
- Auditing websites and performing any necessary web edits.
- Interacting with and distributing tasks to the two (2) contracted web company partners.
- Building and maintaining websites using WordPress: This includes tasks such as installing WordPress, configuring themes, creating and managing content, and customizing plugins.
- Customizing WordPress themes: This includes modifying the appearance and layout of websites by customizing existing WordPress themes or creating custom themes from scratch.
- Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code: Requires a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, and ability to write code that is well-organized and easy to maintain.
- Debugging and troubleshooting to fix any bugs or issues that arise on the website.
- Optimizing website performance: This includes tasks such as optimizing images, improving website load times, and reducing server response times.
- Implementing security measures: Requires awareness of common security threats and take steps to protect the website from hacking and other malicious activities.
- Collaborating with team members: Will work with a team of developers, designers, and contractors to build and maintain websites, and should be able to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies: Remain up to date on the latest trends in web development and WordPress to continuously deliver high-quality work.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in web design and development is required.
- Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery.
- Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
- Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
- Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages.
- Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON or XML).
- Proficient understanding of the code versioning tool Git.
- Comfortable working with debugging tools, like Chrome Inspector, etc.
- Basic knowledge of DNS setup for website deployment.
- Experience working with any eCommerce platforms such as Squarespace, WooCommerce and/or Shopify is highly desirable.
- Knowledge or previous experience working with DealerOn CMS is highly desirable.
- Experience optimizing websites for SEO and site speed using plug-ins, FTP or hard code is highly desirable.
- Experience working with an SEO team and/or a basic understanding of implementing SEO design elements (title tags, meta descriptions, structured data, 301 redirects, etc.) preferred.
WORK STATUS & LOCATION
This part-time, 20 hours per week contract position is located in Colorado Springs, CO. This position requires onsite work in the Colorado Springs office 1 day per week. Please note this is a hybrid (onsite/remote) position that can accommodate a partially remote work schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation for this position is in the range of $35.00 to $40.00 per hour during the contract duration of the assignment. Please note your actual pay rate will be determined based upon your skills, knowledge and abilities, and work experience - talk with your recruiter to learn more.
