Job Title: Senior Frontend Software Engineer

Job Type: Contract (3+ months with possibility for extension)

Job Location: Remote anywhere in Canada

Work Schedule: Remote

The Senior Frontend Software Engineer Contractor will operate within the Member Experience organization, focusing on delivering an exceptional digital experience. The Contractor is responsible for developing and refining the company application and providing users with robust self-service functionalities that enable them to navigate their healthcare with ease and fully leverage their benefits. They will also help support and build internal tooling for internal stakeholders including the member advocates that support users when they contact the company.

This role has a direct working relationship with design, product and other engineers (BE) to deliver new mobile features for users. They would work closely with support engineers in helping address production issues in a timely manner to reduce anytime user impact.

Responsibilities:

Develop and Architect: Design, develop, and deploy scalable and highly performant user interfaces using React.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
Leadership & Quality: Champion best practices, lead technical design discussions, conduct thorough code reviews, and ensure high standards of code quality and maintainability.
Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to translate wireframes and user stories into robust, seamless, and user-centric features.
Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks and cross-browser compatibility issues to ensure a smooth experience.
Technical Ownership: Take ownership of significant feature development, from initial architecture to deployment and monitoring.

Qualifications:

5+ years of professional experience in front-end development, with extensive expertise in React.js and its ecosystem (Hooks, Context API, etc.).
Strong proficiency with TypeScript.
Expertise in state management libraries (e.g., Redux or equivalent).
Solid grasp of front-end architecture, design patterns, and performance optimization techniques.
Experience integrating with RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive projects to completion in an Agile environment.
Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library).
