Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to support a retail billing application project in the Utility industry. The ideal candidate will have strong manual testing experience and a deep understanding of utility and retail billing systems. You will work within an Agile team, collaborating with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and 4 5 Developers to ensure the highest quality deliverables. This is a remote role with minimal travel to corporate offices as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute manual testing efforts for a complex retail billing application.
- Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business requirements and user stories.
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure clear understanding of functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Identify, document, and track defects in a test management system and work with developers to resolve issues.
- Perform end-to-end testing of billing cycles, rate calculations, invoices, and payment processing within the retail energy/utility domain.
- Validate data integrity across multiple integrated systems, ensuring accurate billing calculations and customer account management.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives as part of the Agile team.
- Assist in UAT (User Acceptance Testing), collaborating with business stakeholders to validate system behavior.
- Provide mentorship to junior QA team members and help establish best practices for manual testing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for utility billing systems.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 12+ years of experience in Software QA, with a focus on manual testing.
- Utility industry experience is highly preferred, especially in retail billing applications.
- Strong knowledge of billing cycles, invoicing, payment processing, and account management in the utility space.
- Hands-on experience in testing large-scale enterprise applications.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases.
- Experience working in Agile (Scrum) development teams.
- Proficiency in using JIRA, TestRail, or similar test management tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze logs, databases, and system behavior.
- Basic SQL knowledge to validate database records and perform data integrity checks.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
