Full-Stack Developer/ Backend Developer

Robert Half is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support a Life and Health Insurance organization based remotely within the U.S. This role involves supporting backend development for insurance product logic and quoting systems as the team expands their capacity for microservices work. Job Details:

Schedule: Standard business hours (Pacific Time)

Duration: Long-term (multi-year roadmap)

Location: Remote (U.S. only)

Job Responsibilities:

• Support backend architecture for quoting and configuration of life insurance products using AWS Lambda, Docker, and Java/Kotlin.
• Maintain and extend microservices that process proposal data and generate documentation via Salesforce.
• Build scalable logic to support 30+ unique insurance products with dynamic business rules.
• Handle demographic and policy-specific quoting logic for new client onboarding and existing product expansion.
• Collaborate with a small, focused team and contribute to ongoing technical strategy discussions.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience as a backend/Full stack developer
• AWS - experience with Lambda, serverless architecture, and cloud-native infrastructure
• Java or Kotlin - strong proficiency in one or both as primary backend language
• Business Logic Implementation - microservices development for insurance products, rate quoting, and Salesforce data processing
• C# - used for backend symmetry and support across systems
• Angular or React - not required, but helpful for future full-stack development
• Comfortable in backend-heavy roles; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus
