Compensation

Zone A (Bay Area, NYC, Boston, DC, Seattle, LA) $180,000-$220,000

Zone B (Dallas, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Miami, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Phoenix) $140,000-$180,000

Zone C (All other cities/states) $120,000-$160,000

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-powered applications and scalable backend systems. This role is pivotal in building and maintaining robust infrastructure, integrating automation, and leveraging machine learning to drive business efficiency. The ideal candidate will be an expert in backend development with a strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and DevOps practices.

What You’ll Do

Design, develop, and maintain microservices and backend applications in Python.

Architect and implement AI-driven automation tools to streamline legal and business operations.

Build and optimize scalable cloud-based infrastructure using AWS.

Develop and maintain real-time data pipelines, ETL processes, and database management solutions.

Implement security best practices, authentication mechanisms, and monitoring solutions.

Utilize DevOps tools such as Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.

Integrate machine learning models for predictive analytics and workflow orchestration.

Work in an agile, fast-paced environment to iterate and deploy high-impact features.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience building and maintaining complex production backend systems.

Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and workflow orchestration (e.g., step functions, schedulable workers).

Proficiency in Python and experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).

Expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and scalable application development.

Experience in DevOps, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).

Strong understanding of security best practices, unit testing, and system monitoring/logging.

Nice to Have

Experience with AI/ML technologies and data engineering.

Familiarity with ElasticSearch, vector databases, and embeddings.

Prior experience working with APIs and third-party integrations.

Knowledge of modern frontend frameworks (React preferred) for full-stack development.
