Salary $165,000 - $275,000 per year

A rapidly scaling AI-driven platform, backed by top-tier investors including Y Combinator, Sapphire Ventures, and ICONIQ Growth, is seeking a seasoned Distributed Systems Engineer. This is a critical, high-priority role focused on building the engine that enables syncing terabytes of data daily with low latency and high reliability.

Ideally you are someone who has built large-scale, production-grade infrastructure that reliably moves massive volumes of data—terabytes per day—with low latency and high throughput. You’ve likely architected streaming or event-based systems that support critical workflows, and you know how to scale infrastructure through aggressive growth. This is a role with real ownership you'll make high-impact technical decisions and shape the systems that drive the company forward.

Job Details

Responsibilities

• Architect and enhance the core data syncing engine, ensuring high throughput and low latency for terabyte-scale data movements.
• Optimize data synchronization processes to meet stringent performance benchmarks, including sub-30ms p90 response times and handling millions of QPS.
• Develop and implement real-time streaming capabilities, integrating sources like webhooks and message queues.
• Design systems for multi-region and multi-cloud deployments, addressing data residency and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve scalability and reliability challenges in a rapidly growing infrastructure.
• Contribute to the development of APIs and services that enable real-time personalization and data activation for enterprise clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in distributed systems engineering.
• Proven track record in building and scaling distributed systems that handle large-scale data processing.
• Expertise in designing and implementing systems design, data synchronization, or streaming services that are critical to business operations.
• Experience with multi-cloud architectures and deploying systems across various cloud providers and regions.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a high-autonomy environment.
• Background in high-growth tech startups, particularly those that have undergone significant scaling phases.
