As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and drive the development of complex, distributed software systems across multiple agile teams. You will design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions while mentoring junior engineers and influencing architectural decisions. This role requires collaboration across product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure that projects align with business objectives and meet rigorous quality standards. You will guide technical strategy, foster innovation, and promote best practices in coding, testing, and DevSecOps. Accountabilities:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of distributed, modular, and high-performance software systems
- Translate product requirements into robust, scalable architectures while ensuring maintainability, security, and compliance
- Conduct design and code reviews across multiple applications to enforce best practices and technical standards
- Lead multiple agile teams to deliver features and enhancements according to prioritized product roadmaps
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove obstacles, align on requirements, and ensure successful project delivery
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers across teams, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and operational excellence
- Partner with product managers to estimate effort, prioritize work, and execute on roadmap initiatives
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on expertise in modern programming languages (Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript)
- 3+ years of experience leading multi-team engineering initiatives in distributed application environments
- Strong background in backend development, microservices, APIs, and database systems (Postgres, MySQL, DynamoDB, S3, etc.)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevSecOps practices
- Proficiency in message queuing, data streaming, workflow frameworks, and microservices architecture
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills across multiple functional areas
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive adoption of best practices in quality, scalability, and performance
- Experience leveraging analytics and experimentation to improve system performance and usability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- AI/automation workflow integration experience
- Experience in high-scale, distributed systems and operational excellence initiatives
- Proven track record of driving technical strategy and vision for multiple teams
