This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Payments/Fintech in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing FinTech team focused on designing and scaling global payment solutions. In this role, you will develop and maintain reliable, high-volume financial systems that ensure secure, timely, and compliant fund distribution. Collaborating closely with product managers, finance, compliance, and engineering peers, you will play a key role in shaping the technical architecture, improving automation, and enhancing operational efficiency. This position offers a fully remote environment where innovation, reliability, and adherence to regulatory standards are paramount. You will contribute to solving complex challenges in payment processing, reconciliation, and financial reporting while influencing system design decisions across distributed platforms.
Accountabilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain backend systems for payments, scheduling payouts, and transaction reconciliation
- Ensure large-scale, on-time fund distribution with strong SLAs, monitoring, and reliability standards
- Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, and Product teams to deliver features meeting regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements
- Integrate with third-party payment processors, banks, and financial networks (ACH, wire transfers, card processors, digital wallets)
- Architect systems with auditability, security, and fault tolerance across distributed services
- Implement and enhance automated reconciliation, ledgering, and reporting pipelines
- Lead discussions on scalability, reliability, and fraud prevention in payment systems
- Contribute to code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and drive CI/CD, monitoring, and observability improvements
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building backend systems, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity
- Strong proficiency in C#, ASP.NET (Web API), and SQL Server
- Hands-on experience with payment processing, banking integrations, or financial transaction systems
- Deep understanding of transactional integrity and database systems (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, or NoSQL)
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, queues, and schedulers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards for payments (PCI DSS, SOC 2, GDPR)
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, finance, and business teams
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with NodeJS, TypeScript, Angular, or mobile development (.NET MAUI, Objective-C, Android)
- Knowledge of ACH, SEPA, card networks, or real-time payment rails
- Background in ledgering systems, accounting workflows, treasury operations, or fraud detection
