Senior Software Engineer, Payments/Fintech

In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling high-performance payment and financial systems that power global digital platforms. You will design secure, compliant, and resilient services that process high transaction volumes while ensuring money movement is reliable, accurate, and timely. Working closely with finance, compliance, product, and engineering teams, you will drive innovation in payment workflows, architecture, and financial automation. You will help evolve distributed systems, integrate with financial networks, and optimize end-to-end transactional flows. • Accountabilities
• Design, implement, and maintain robust systems for payment processing, payout scheduling, and transaction reconciliation.
• Ensure timely and scalable funds distribution supported by clear SLAs, monitoring, and reliability practices.
• Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, and Product teams to ensure features meet regulatory, tax, audit, and reporting requirements.
• Integrate with third-party payment providers, banks, and financial networks including ACH, wire transfers, card processors, and digital wallets.
• Architect secure, auditable, and fault-tolerant services across distributed environments.
• Improve automated reconciliation, ledgering flows, and financial reporting pipelines.
• Lead technical discussions on scalability, reliability, fraud prevention, and operational excellence.
• Support internal and external integrations, contribute to code reviews, and reinforce engineering best practices.
• Elevate CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and observability for critical financial workflows.
• Requirements
• 5 or more years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Strong expertise in C#, ASP.NET Web API, and SQL Server.
• Hands-on experience with payment processing systems, financial integrations, or transactional platforms.
• Deep understanding of databases, ACID properties, and transactional integrity (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL).
• Familiarity with event-driven systems and messaging tools such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or cloud queues.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of compliance and security frameworks including PCI DSS, SOC 2, and GDPR.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, finance, and cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Bonus skills include NodeJS, TypeScript, Angular, mobile development, ACH or SEPA experience, accounting workflows, and fraud-risk mitigation.
