This role offers the opportunity to shape and scale the back-end architecture of a high-growth financial technology platform designed for mid-market businesses. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining core systems that support financial products, card processing, and ledgering of transactions. The position provides full ownership over complex technical domains and encourages collaboration across a nimble, high-performing engineering team. You will influence the technical direction, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the long-term scalability, security, and reliability of the platform. Accountabilities:

Take ownership of large backend domains and features, including card processing, transaction ledgering, and core financial systems
Architect and implement scalable, reliable, and secure services and data models
Design API contracts, data structures, observability metrics, and security protocols to ensure high-quality software delivery
Mentor and guide engineers on best practices in development, testing, and architecture
Drive adoption of modern frameworks, tools, and methodologies across the engineering team
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including on-call support when needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver impactful solutions

Requirements

4+ years of professional experience shipping high-quality backend products at scale
Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with solid understanding of server design principles
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
Knowledge of scalable, low-latency, asynchronous system design and architectural patterns
Familiarity with modular monoliths and microservices, including trade-offs and operational challenges
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong data-driven decision-making for architecture and project prioritization
Track record of delivering complex projects from inception to release
High sense of ownership, work ethic, and commitment to engineering excellence
