As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building scalable, resilient, and innovative software systems that power smart homes and buildings. You will design and operate IoT platforms, maintain digital twins, and develop tools that streamline operational workflows. This role allows you to work across the full software lifecycle, from architecture to deployment, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your work will directly impact the sustainability, efficiency, and quality of smart living solutions. Accountabilities
- Design and operate scalable IoT systems powering smart homes and buildings
- Build and maintain a Building Digital Twin to provide a unified operational view
- Develop internal tools to enhance Building Operating System workflows and processes
- Own complex technical tasks independently and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Contribute to architectural decisions, system design, and roadmap planning
- Champion agile, test-driven development practices and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure quality, maintainability, and observability of systems through best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of sustainability, innovation, and ownership
Requirements
- Strong experience designing, building, and operating production software systems, ideally in IoT, smart home, or smart building environments
- Proficiency in modern software design patterns, distributed and event-driven architectures
- Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems, containerization, and cloud integration
- Skilled in Kotlin, Python, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, message brokers, and cloud platforms
- Familiarity with IoT connectivity technologies (Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee, Thread, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, 5G) and protocols (MQTT, CoAP, WebSockets, KNX, BACnet, Matter, Modbus, Z-Wave)
- Experience designing and operating highly available systems and managing large fleets of connected devices
- Strong collaborative development practices, including pairing, TDD, and mentoring
- Bonus: Experience with IoT device lifecycle management, OTA updates, and observability practices
