This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 2 - Nuclear in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and impactful projects within nuclear power plant systems, contributing to the design, modification, and analysis of critical instrumentation and controls. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement solutions for digital and analog control systems, supporting plant operations and modernization initiatives. The position allows for hands-on work with PLCs, DCS, HSI, networked computer systems, and mechatronics, while also providing exposure to client interactions, system testing, and technical documentation. Ideal candidates are technically adept, detail-oriented, and enjoy mentoring junior engineers in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.
- Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and modify digital and analog control systems including PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.
- Prepare functional requirements, procurement specifications, and detailed calculations for control systems applications.
- Work on mechatronics and control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, turbines, and reactors to enhance plant functionality.
- Conduct cyber assessments of critical digital assets and participate in evaluation reviews.
- Interface with clients, attend site walkdowns, and validate project scope to ensure satisfaction.
- Review vendor documentation, prepare materials and equipment specifications, and ensure design compliance.
- Prepare technical reports, studies, and documentation to communicate complex information clearly.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and provide guidance in technical and project-related matters.
- Requirements:
- BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience designing instrumentation and control systems for nuclear or industrial projects.
- Expertise in equipment selection, control philosophy, assembly of design packages, calculations, and specifications.
- Experience with low and medium voltage distribution systems, turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data display systems.
- Strong knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems for system design execution.
- Client liaison experience in engineering support or lead roles.
- Ability to review design documentation, specifications, and calculations.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with attention to detail.
