This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior DevOps Software Engineer in the United States.
As a Senior DevOps Software Engineer, you will lead the development, deployment, and automation of critical software systems in a complex, secure environment. You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, manage software configuration, and collaborate with distributed teams to ensure high-quality delivery of production-ready software. This role requires hands-on expertise in cloud-native and containerized environments, automated testing, and infrastructure management. You will have the opportunity to influence the design and implementation of mission-critical systems, contribute to software lifecycle improvements, and mentor other engineers on best practices. Accountabilities
- Develop, maintain, and automate CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins/Cloudbees, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, and Ansible
- Manage software configuration, version control, and release planning across distributed development networks
- Lead configuration management processes, providing technical guidance, training, and best practices to engineering teams
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software using Python, JavaScript, Java, and SQL
- Maintain and troubleshoot Kafka and Elastic clusters, supporting deployment, updates, and performance tuning
- Work collaboratively with Agile teams, attending daily scrums, communicating project progress, and ensuring timely delivery of software objectives
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate technical risks proactively, ensuring system reliability and security compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in DevOps or software engineering roles
- Proficiency with Git and Bitbucket, including branching, merging, and code review integration
- Strong experience with CI/CD automation, containerized environments, and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift)
- Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit)
- Previous experience with software configuration management, release planning, and baseline management
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred) and DoD secure environments (DISA/STIG compliance preferred)
- Strong UNIX command-line experience and scripting skills
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with geographically dispersed teams
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain or hold a DoD Secret clearance
- Security+ certification or equivalent DoD IAT II certification within 60 days of start date
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) and integration with SCM pipelines
- Knowledge of security scans, static code analysis, and automated compliance checks
- Familiarity with Agile development practices in a remote, collaborative environment
