This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Semiconductor Software Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to develop advanced software solutions that directly support semiconductor innovation and next-generation silicon development. The Semiconductor Software Engineer will design and build tools, automation frameworks, and infrastructure that improve semiconductor design, verification, manufacturing, and validation processes. Working at the intersection of hardware and software, this position enables faster development cycles, improved performance, and higher-quality semiconductor products. The ideal candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams while solving complex technical challenges in a highly specialized environment. This remote opportunity provides the chance to contribute to impactful engineering initiatives while working with modern software, hardware, and computing technologies.

Accountabilities

The Semiconductor Software Engineer will be responsible for creating scalable software solutions that support semiconductor engineering workflows, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate silicon development.

  • Design, develop, and maintain software tools, firmware, and infrastructure supporting semiconductor design, verification, manufacturing, and post-silicon validation.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, EDA teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate technical requirements into reliable software solutions.
  • Build automation frameworks, data pipelines, and scalable computing solutions to optimize semiconductor workflows.
  • Develop and maintain software applications using C, C++, and Python.
  • Support large-scale compute environments, including grid, cloud, and HPC infrastructure.
  • Analyze and process design and characterization data to improve engineering decisions and workflow efficiency.
  • Debug complex software and hardware interaction issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, documentation efforts, and technical mentorship to promote engineering excellence.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by introducing better tools, processes, and engineering practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering expertise combined with experience in semiconductor environments, hardware-software integration, and engineering automation.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in semiconductor-related environments.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with EDA workflows, verification processes, or post-silicon validation environments.
  • Strong understanding of low-level hardware and software interactions.
  • Experience building large-scale compute infrastructure, including grid, cloud, or HPC environments.
  • Strong scripting, automation, and software development skills.
  • Experience developing and managing data pipelines for engineering, design, or characterization data.
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • Experience with SystemVerilog or other hardware description languages (HDLs).
  • Familiarity with UVM-based verification methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud-based EDA workflows.
  • Knowledge of machine learning applications in silicon design.
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
