This role offers a unique opportunity for a highly skilled engineer to lead software development efforts in advanced electromagnetic, cyber, and defense systems. The Principal Software Engineer will design, develop, and integrate cutting-edge software solutions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support mission-critical projects. This position requires hands-on experience in full-stack and cloud development, as well as familiarity with networking and signal processing. The engineer will mentor junior developers, drive research and development efforts, and contribute to innovative solutions across complex technical domains. The role is ideal for someone passionate about tackling challenging problems, leveraging emerging technologies such as AI/ML, quantum sensing, and electronic warfare, and delivering high-impact solutions. Accountabilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of junior software developers
- Design, develop, and maintain software across multiple languages, rapidly adapting to new technologies
- Own all phases of product development, from concept to troubleshooting deployed solutions
- Contribute to research and prototyping for software-defined radios, spectrum operations, and electronic warfare systems
- Support comprehensive technical solutions covering the entire product lifecycle
- Evaluate emerging technologies including AI/ML, quantum sensing, and autonomous systems for practical applications
- Collaborate with RF, mechanical, electrical, and cybersecurity teams to integrate software solutions
- Participate in laboratory experiments and field tests to validate system performance
- Document technical findings and support proposal development and technical communications
- Provide expert knowledge to assist with customer engagements, demonstrations, and technical support
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; 5+ years in software development, with leadership experience
- Proficiency in Python, C#, Rust, and other programming languages; experience across full development lifecycle
- Solid understanding of networking, Linux systems, troubleshooting, and cloud development
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes, Agile methodology, database/query languages, and software testing practices
- Expertise in one or more areas: RF systems, electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum operations, cybersecurity, AI/ML for RF/cyber applications, software-defined radios, or radar engineering
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to conceptualize and execute complex R&D projects, mentor teams, and rapidly learn new technologies
- Experience with DARPA, DoD, or intelligence community projects is a plus
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance
