The Principal Mobile Engineer will serve as the senior technical leader for mobile development, shaping long-term strategy and ensuring excellence across iOS and Android platforms, with a primary focus on React Native. This role involves defining scalable architecture, establishing development standards, and driving a seamless, unified user experience across mobile and web platforms. The engineer will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams, mentor senior staff, and guide mobile investments to maximize impact. The ideal candidate combines hands-on development expertise with strong cross-functional influence and strategic vision, delivering high-quality, production-grade applications that delight users and scale with business needs.
Accountabilities:
- Lead technical direction and long-term architectural vision for mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms (React Native as primary focus)
- Act as the principal hands-on contributor, establishing standards for engineering quality, performance, and scalability
- Drive alignment across mobile and web teams to deliver a consistent, unified user experience
- Collaborate with product and design teams to define strategy, execution plans, and prioritization for major initiatives
- Develop scalable patterns, frameworks, and best practices across the mobile organization
- Partner with platform and design teams on shared components, navigation systems, and design systems
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering growth
- Lead architecture reviews, performance optimization, and technical rigor across mobile projects
- Identify and mitigate technical risks while fostering innovation and experimentation
- Serve as a mobile subject-matter expert within the broader organization
Requirements
- 8-12+ years of experience building and shipping high-quality mobile applications at scale
- Deep expertise in React Native and experience designing large, production-grade mobile applications
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture, performance tuning, and platform best practices
- Experience with native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and/or Android (Kotlin/Jetpack) development is a plus
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence cross-functional teams
- Systems thinking with a bias toward scalable frameworks and reusable patterns
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and shaping technical culture
- Excellent communication skills to drive clarity and alignment across teams
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, remote collaboration tools, and version control systems
