This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Lead Automation Engineer in the United States.
This role offers a high-impact opportunity to lead the design and implementation of automated testing systems for hardware and embedded firmware across multiple product lines and deployment sites. You will architect scalable, maintainable test frameworks that transform quality assurance processes and accelerate the identification of product issues. In collaboration with cross-functional teams including Firmware, Hardware, Data Analytics, and Operations, you will drive data-driven improvements, mentor engineers, and establish robust testing infrastructure. This position allows for technical ownership over automation strategies, operational efficiency, and the continuous enhancement of product reliability across complex environments. Your work will directly improve product performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Accountabilities:
- Design and architect end-to-end automated test frameworks for multi-site, multi-product deployment.
- Define the technical roadmap and implementation strategy to achieve full automation coverage across hardware categories.
- Build modular test libraries to enable rapid deployment to new products and failure modes.
- Collaborate with Firmware, Hardware, and QA teams to define coverage requirements and debug complex interactions.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and conduct code reviews.
- Develop SQL-based dashboards to track test coverage, failure modes, and operational metrics.
- Establish KPIs to measure impact, including coverage percentage, time-to-diagnosis, cost savings, and pattern detection speed.
- Drive continuous improvement of test protocols based on data analysis and field feedback.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in test automation, embedded systems, or related fields with demonstrated technical leadership.
- Expert-level knowledge of embedded firmware and hardware: MCU/RTOS, embedded Linux, I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, CAN bus, power management, and firmware-hardware integration debugging.
- Proven experience designing and deploying scalable test systems, defining technical roadmaps, and making architectural trade-offs.
- Advanced programming skills (Python or similar) for test frameworks and experience with ATE systems or test automation platforms.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Track record of deploying and maintaining production test systems with high reliability and throughput.
- Preferred: experience with automotive/IoT/telematics devices, RMA/failure analysis operations, data correlation for root cause analysis, or building test automation teams.
Benefits:
- Competitive base salary ($163,000–$200,000 USD) with comprehensive total rewards.
- Health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
- Paid time off, sick leave, and short/long-term disability coverage.
- 401(k) contributions with company matching.
- Opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.
- Collaborative, high-impact work in a cross-functional team environment.
- Chance to influence product quality and operational excellence at scale.
