This role is a key driver of audience growth and engagement within a fast-paced digital media environment, where email serves as one of the most important channels for subscriber acquisition, retention, and monetization. The Email Marketing Manager will own end-to-end strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio of newsletters, ensuring strong performance across the entire lifecycle funnel. You will play a central role in shaping how audiences discover, engage with, and derive value from email content. The position blends strategic ownership with hands-on campaign execution, requiring strong analytical thinking and creative marketing skills. You will collaborate closely with editorial, advertising operations, and marketing teams to align email initiatives with broader business goals. This is a high-visibility role where your work directly influences audience growth, engagement, and revenue outcomes.
Accountabilities
- Own and optimize the full email lifecycle strategy, including acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention, reactivation, and win-back campaigns
- Define and monitor key performance indicators across the email funnel, identifying trends and continuously improving campaign effectiveness
- Design and execute segmentation strategies, behavioral targeting, automation workflows, and A/B testing frameworks to improve engagement and conversions
- Partner with editorial and marketing teams to create integrated, cross-channel campaigns informed by subscriber behavior and email insights
- Collaborate with AdOps teams to support newsletter sponsorships, advertising integrations, and revenue performance tracking
- Analyze campaign performance using analytics tools and translate insights into actionable optimization strategies
- Ensure email content aligns with brand voice, editorial standards, and quality expectations across multiple publications
- Present performance reports, strategic recommendations, and growth insights to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance on execution, priorities, and professional development
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, or newsletter operations with ownership of campaign performance
- At least 1 year of experience managing or mentoring team members in a marketing or operations environment
- Proven ability to develop and execute email growth strategies that drive acquisition, engagement, and retention
- Hands-on experience with email marketing automation tools such as HubSpot, Mailchimp, Marketo, Sailthru, or similar platforms
- Strong expertise in segmentation, automation workflows, behavioral targeting, and A/B testing methodologies
- Experience analyzing campaign performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Looker, or similar BI/reporting platforms
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling email content and high-performing CTAs
- Experience working cross-functionally with editorial, marketing, and advertising operations teams
- Familiarity with CRM systems, CDPs, or audience data tools used for segmentation and targeting
- Ability to present insights and strategies clearly to senior stakeholders while supporting junior team development
- Experience supporting newsletter monetization initiatives such as sponsorships, affiliate programs, or ad integrations
