Data Engineer

Jaxel is looking for a skilled and proactive Data Scientist who will develop and maintain the semantic backbone of company’s AI platform. Design domain-specific ontologies, manage knowledge graph pipelines, and enable advanced reasoning for claims registration and fraud detection.

Responsibilities

• Ontology Design: Create and maintain ontologies for health insurance claims, medical coding standards (ICD, CPT), document templates, and investigation workflows.
• Graph Construction: Lead ingestion, curation, and graph modeling of structured and unstructured data.
• Semantic Integration: Define schema mappings and alignment strategies between client data models and the core ontology.
• Reasoning & Validation: Implement rule-based validation and graph-based consistency checks (e.g., temporal constraints).
• Scalability & Performance: Optimize graph storage and query performance for real-time alerting.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with data scientists to embed semantic reasoning into ML pipelines and agent workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in knowledge engineering, ontology development, or linked data projects.
• Deep expertise with OWL, RDF, SHACL, or comparable semantic standards.
• Experience building and querying large-scale knowledge graphs using Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, TigerGraph, etc.
• Proficiency in SPARQL, Cypher, or Gremlin.
• Familiarity with healthcare ontologies and standards (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate between technical and domain experts.
