Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing in This Role:

J.D. Power's New Product Development organization seeks an Intermediate Product Designer to research and design our customer-facing digital platform and associated products/features. You'll distill complex data and analytics workflows into intuitive, insightful experiences that solve mission-critical problems in the domains we operate in.

  • Lead and own design initiatives from concept development (research, ideation, sketching, high fidelity design) through commercialization
  • Serve as the design "face" of NPD projects, representing design excellence across all touchpoints while effectively managing and presenting to working teams and senior leadership alike, effectively
  • Create and communicate strategic design concepts through sketches, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to uncover explicit and implicit user needs
  • Translate research insights into delightful, utility-focused experiences
  • Work effectively in Agile team/squad interactions and client-facing meetings
  • Partner with cross-functional team members and negotiate priorities when needed
  • Provide informed project estimates and track design changes
  • Ensure design excellence through comprehensive design QA
  • Deliver designs that meet deadlines while maintaining high standards

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or related field
  • Strong background in user-centered design principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in User Testing, Journey Mapping, and User Personas
  • Experience with Lean, Design Thinking, and Agile delivery practices
  • Ability to translate user research into actionable design solutions
  • Have extensive knowledge in code-based design systems
  • Strong design fundamentals, typography skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills including presenting confidently and selling ideas to senior and executive leadership and customers alike
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently

Technical Skills (must Have)

  • Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology for web-based applications
  • Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe CC Suite, etc.)
  • Experience designing complex data visualizations and interfaces
  • Experience with AI workflows and AI-assisted design processes (e.g. Builder, Replit, VS Code, etc.)
  • Intermediate skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
