itD is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology Practice Group. This is a hybrid role located in our Fulton, MD or Austin, TX location. This is an exciting role for the right individual to continue to cultivate your skills and domain expertise.

The individual selected will be instrumental in helping us continue to deliver excellence to our base of marquee Fortune 500 accounts. You will be joining a family of other SMEs who have also specialized within this sector.

You will also interact closely with our itD Practice Directors, who will partner with you and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring.

Role:

Working collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team alongside developers, QA, and operations engineers, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced security products. Your primary focus will be on building and optimizing backend software solutions, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
Lead the design and architecture of the next generation email security backend systems for email security.
Define the web and email security technology roadmap and influence its adoption among cross-functional teams within company.
Ensure that each of our internal products complies with strict security standards (threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, etc.).
Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of best practices across the engineering teams.
Collaborate with global technology teams to integrate a diverse collection of security tools into a comprehensive security solution.

About You:

You thrive on working with large-scale datasets, analyzing millions of email and web transactions daily to extract security insights.
You have hands-on experience throughout the software development lifecyclefrom concept to implementation, testing, and optimization.
You have a proven track record of delivering high-performance, maintainable, enterprise-quality software on schedule.
You stay up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies in backend development.
You are deeply passionate about cybersecurity and building innovative security solutions.

Required qualifications and skills

7+ years in backend software development on Linux, including expertise in databases, large data processing, networking, and performance optimization.
3+ years hands-on Golang development experience
3+ years of experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS

Preferred qualifications and skills

Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems
Experience with AWS GovCloud and FedRAMP is a major plus
Additional programming experience in other languages (C, Python, Scala, Java)
Proficiency in MySQL, Redis, or other database technologies
Hands-on experience designing and developing scalable and secure API services (gRPC and/or RESTful APIs)
Background in email and web security
Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to improve software reliability
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering preferred); Master’s degree is a plus
