JOB TITLE: Graphic Designer/Instructional Developer

GOVERNMENT AGENCY : Department of Justice (DOJ), Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)

POSITION INFORMATION : Full-time

LOCATION: Falls Church, VA; Hybrid (3 days onsite/2 days telework)

POSITION TIMING: Position requires candidate to obtain a DOJ Public Trust clearance which can take 4-6 weeks to process and must be complete prior to starting employement

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Developer / Graphic Designer to join our training team supporting the Department of Justice (DOJ) Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). In this role, you will lead the development of high-quality training materials and graphic assets to support software rollouts, user education, and internal communications across the agency. You will play a critical role in enhancing training effectiveness and ensuring accessibility standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain computer-based training (CBT) courses and training videos
  • Create video mock-ups to demonstrate concepts and promote clear communication of technical content.
  • Produce and manage training content
  • Troubleshoot, edit, and ensure 508 Compliance across training videos
  • Create and integrate closed captioning for training videos and internal communications
  • Design and distribute a bi-weekly e-newsletter
  • Collaborate closely with the training team, software developers, and leadership to align training content with technical updates and agency goals.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Ability to obtain a DOJ Public Trust clearance (must be obtained prior to start date).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Instructional Design, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, graphic design, or multimedia development.
  • Strong proficiency with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, Articulate 360).
  • Experience producing 508-compliant training materials and adding closed captioning to video content.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Prior experience supporting federal government agencies, particularly DOJ, strongly preferred.

Work Environment And Physical Demands

  • Candidate must be able to function in general office environment.
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Regular movement around the campus of large immigration courts is required throughout the day to provide hands-on support to customers.
  • The person in this position must have the ability to lift and move IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
