One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Lead UX/UI Designer - EL1. This is a long-term contractual position.

- Contract Duration: 18 Months (12 Months initially + 06 Months extension)
- Work Location: Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart and Melbourne (03 Days office/02 Days home per week)
- Eligibility: You must need to have Baseline Security Clearance or above
- Tentative Start Date: 19th May 2025
Position Description:
This role will support the deliverables outlined in the Benefits Integrity Division Analytical Needs Implementation Roadmap. It involves a comprehensive approach to enhancing the overall user experience across various platforms and tools within the Division, as part of the effort to streamline and improve analytical products. This includes conducting user research to understand the needs and pain points of users, designing intuitive and visually appealing interfaces, and ensuring a consistent and seamless user experience across all touchpoints. The UI/UX Designer will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including business areas and the executive team, to gather requirements, iterate on designs based on feedback, and ensure that the final products meet user needs and align with the Division’s goals.
Key duties and responsibilities
User Research and Analysis:
- Conduct user research to understand the needs and pain points of users.
- Analyse user feedback and usability test results to inform design decisions.
- Experience in creating user personas, journey maps, and conducting user interviews.
Design and Prototyping:
- Proficiency in creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD).
- Ability to design intuitive and visually appealing interfaces that enhance user experience.
- Experience in developing and maintaining design systems to ensure consistency across platforms.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, including business areas and the executive team.
- Ability to gather requirements, iterate on designs based on feedback, and present design solutions to stakeholders.
- Experience in coordinating stakeholder engagement for requirements gathering and design reviews.
Project Management:
- Ability to manage projects and meet design requirements as directed by the project lead(s).
- Strong time management skills to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Proven experience in identifying and managing risks and escalating issues to the project lead(s) when necessary.
Technical Proficiency:
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in contemporary design software applications.
- Understanding of front-end development principles to ensure designs are feasible and can be implemented effectively.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrated experience in conducting user research and testing.
- Demonstrated experience with creating wireframes/prototypes to develop user-centred designs.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency in the design and development process.
- Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proven ability to collaborate with product managers, developers and subject-matter experts to achieve a shared goal.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in contemporary design software applications.
