Role Summary
Do you want to help us improve outcomes for patients with cancer in the UK and internationally?
We are seeking an exceptional Senior UX Designer with at least 5 years of experience to join our mission of improving healthcare outcomes globally. You will lead the design of innovative, user-centred software solutions that impact cancer treatment across the world. In this senior role, you will apply deep expertise in UX design, guiding the evolution of our product suite, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior colleagues.
This role is primarily remote, but monthly travel within the North West of England will be required for customer site visits and in-person collaboration with the Product team. Candidates should be comfortable with occasional travel to meet with users and stakeholders as part of their role.

Not only will you have the opportunity to work on our flagship iQemo product, but you will also drive the UX of our latest AI driven clinical decision support system which will revolutionise the cancer prescription management process.
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead the design strategy for iQ HealthTech's product portfolio, ensuring a consistent, intuitive, and engaging user experience across all products.
- Oversee the design and implementation of complex, user-centred interfaces, applying your deep knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, and usability testing.
- Collaborate closely with the Software Architect to ensure the design solutions are feasible and align with technical constraints, product architecture, and development processes. This includes ongoing communication to balance user experience goals with technical requirements, ensuring that the designs are both innovative and implementable within the project timelines.
- Define and maintain a scalable design system that supports the growth of our product portfolio and ensures visual consistency.
- Drive the design process from concept to delivery, producing wireframes, prototypes, workflow maps, and high-fidelity designs that are rigorously tested with users.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and engineering teams to translate user needs and business requirements into thoughtful, effective design solutions.
- Lead usability testing and other research initiatives, applying user insights to refine design solutions and ensure a seamless user experience. Examples: experimentation, A/B testing, multivariant testing.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Product team members, fostering a collaborative design environment that encourages growth and innovation.
- Stay current with industry trends, incorporating new design methodologies and tools to enhance the team’s capabilities and improve product outcomes.
- Specifying the visual, interface and interaction design of iQ HealthTech products.
- Crafting solutions to user and business requirements defined through research and specification; ensuring that needs are met with a solution that prioritises efficiency, usability, accessibility, and patient safety.
- Compiling work-flow and object-hierarchy maps that enable relationships and requirements to be explored, specified and verified.
- Designing low and medium-fidelity wireframes to rapidly concept, verify and iterate solutions.
- Designing high-fidelity wireframes that specify the final work to be handed off to development. The specification of this work is to include the visual and interface design, and encompasses structure, spacing, typography and copy of the work to be developed.
- Authoring the accompanying user stories that comprehensively specify the work to be developed.
- Ensuring the user stories cover all the defined user journeys identified in the brief and the product discovery phases.
- Ensuring all work done conforms to processes outlined in the iQ HealthTech Design and Development policy in line with ISO13485 medical device certification, and that required outputs and artefacts are archived correctly and in a timely fashion.
- Engaging in research activities, through the production of supporting assets or by assisting in workshop facilitation.
- Presenting work in progress and user insights to the wider company, to build empathy, engagement and unlock the expertise present across departments and teams.
- Contribute towards creating training materials for new functionality designed by the UX team.
- Recruiting to and maintaining the iQ HealthTech research panel of users – iQ Horizons.
Key Skills
Essential
- 5+ years of UX design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create innovative, user-centred designs across multiple platforms.
- Expert in design systems development and maintenance, with experience implementing scalable solutions for complex software products.
- Strong proficiency with design and prototyping tools, including Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Miro.
- Proven track record of leading design teams and mentoring junior designers, with a passion for nurturing talent and fostering collaboration.
- Deep knowledge of UX methodologies, including usability testing, user interviews, and heuristic evaluations.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple complex projects, balancing strategic and tactical design responsibilities.
Desirable but not essential
- Extensive experience in healthcare UX, ideally with electronic prescribing systems, electronic patient records, or other healthcare-related software.
- UX Research tools and techniques
- Service design
- Object orientated UX
- Design system development and management (Experience of Storybook or similar would be a big plus)
- UX copy writing
- Product management and development methodologies (Scrum, Agile, Lean, etc)
- Understanding of front-end development tools, concepts and frameworks (HTML, CSS, Responsive design, etc)
- Previous experience with ISO1385 medical device certification.
