Location & Team Gatherings
Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.
We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.
About This Role
As part of Intersect’s Ops Technical Services team, you’ll be the go-to expert for high-voltage systems across our operating fleet. You’ll help keep substations and interconnections running safely, reliably, and in full compliance—while also stepping in with hands-on support when outages, faults, or maintenance events occur. Your expertise will guide root cause analysis, preventive programs, and technical improvements that reduce downtime and strengthen fleet performance. Collaboration is key: you’ll work closely with O&M teams, utilities, contractors, and internal engineering groups to make sure our systems stay strong and scalable.
Team Overview
The Ops Technical Services team provides deep technical expertise and operational support for Intersect Power’s growing fleet. Joining this team means contributing directly to Intersect’s mission of powering a sustainable future while building specialized expertise in renewable energy operations.

• Report on system performance, events, and resolutions to executives, regulators, and key stakeholders
• Ensure alignment with NERC, IEEE, and utility requirements across fleet operations
What You’ll Bring
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field—or equivalent experience in HV operations; advanced certifications in HV or power systems are a plus
• 5+ years of experience with high-voltage substations, transmission interconnections, or HV systems for utility-scale renewable energy projects; experience with utility-scale BESS is preferred
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting HV equipment, analyzing relay event records, and leading root cause analysis
• Proven experience managing HV maintenance, inspections, and switching operations with utilities and O&M providers
• Solid understanding of NERC, IEEE, and utility operational requirements, with ability to apply them in the field
• Proficiency with SCADA/EMS systems, electrical schematics, and maintenance management tools
