Software Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Intermap develops, maintains and supports Geospatial production systems, and provides Geomatics based solutions for global customers.  Support for these systems and the solutions provided are mission critical to enable 24/7 operations.

This SW Engineer position requires a highly motivated and driven individual who can work in a team-oriented environment and independently with minimal supervision, including remotely from home. The individual is objectives oriented and will support software development for scientific and engineering solutions as it relates to the company’s Enterprise Workflow.  The developer will contribute to all aspects of software requirements, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and support. In addition, this person will comply with coding standards, software revision control and configuration management.  The developer's code will ensure functionality, reliability, structure, abstraction and adherence to coding standards.  The developer will also be responsible for ongoing development maintenance and support of existing production systems and code.

Expectations of this position also include communicating requirements with customers, supporting project management (status updates, estimation, scheduling, transition planning, etc.) and software maintenance.

The Software Engineer will focus on coding, debugging, and testing, but will also be responsible for requirements mining and definition, design and architecture. This position requires a strong technical knowledge and experience as well as understanding of customer needs, process and ability to see projects from a big picture perspective.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Software Development for all scientific applications including development support through the project lifecycle.
• Gain familiarity with Intermap’s Enterprise workflow, production tools and processes
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop focused products and solutions for the company
• Implement research, engineering and development technical expertise to provide needed solutions for Intermap
• Support identification and implementation of efficiency improvements to existing systems dependent on priorities and ROI
• Be engaged with projects and initiatives to successfully complete and deliver the desired results on time, on budget and to customer satisfaction
• Maintain and implement development standards, best practices, process, documentation and configuration management
• Communicate and share information with the engineering team

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• 3-5 years direct experience in Software Development with C/C++ within the Visual Studio environment.
• Prior experience with developing scientific and engineering applications
• Exceptional verbal articulation and written communication skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to manage conflicting priorities
• Creative thinker, customer-driven, solutions-oriented, high-achiever with an objective oriented positive attitude
• Passion to excel as a self-starter and a self-motivated individual
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience in one or more of the following would be an asset:

• Applications experience in one or more of the following would be an asset:
• Raster and 3D vector data processing
• Numerical methods and analysis including statistics
• Experience in the following areas would be an asset:
• Geospatial, image processing, numerical analysis, signal processing and remote sensing
• Geospatial applications including map projections
• Remotely sensed data processing (air and/or space borne)
• Image processing, data interpretation and visualization
• Geospatial mapping processes
• Large scale data production
• Familiarity with GIS or other COTS packages such as: PCI, ERDAS, ER Mapper, ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo, Global Mapper and OpenGIS standards (GDAL, WMS, WMTS) would be an asset

EDUCATION/TRAINING

B.S. in Engineering, Science (including Computer Science), Mathematics or demonstrated equivalence

Candidates must have at least 3-5 years of experience in software development
