What This Role Is

This is not a traditional ETL or data pipeline role.

You will be building the internal data platform that other data engineers rely on—think internal Databricks, data quality frameworks, metadata services, or pipeline orchestration tooling. Your end users are other engineers.

If you've spent your career building platforms, frameworks, and tooling for data teams (rather than doing data work yourself), this role was designed for you.

What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable data platform components (ingestion frameworks, data quality systems, orchestration tooling, internal APIs)
• Define architecture and set technical standards for the data engineering org
• Partner with data engineering teams to understand pain points and translate them into reusable platform solutions
• Own the end-to-end delivery of platform features, from design to production

What We're Looking For

• Title background: Staff / Senior / Principal Software Engineer (SWE track, not DE track)
• Experience: 10–15 years
• Technical must-haves: Spark, Kafka, or Databricks + Java or Python
• Keywords that fit: platform engineering, distributed systems, internal tooling, data quality frameworks, event-driven architecture, microservices, CI/CD
• Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. — no visa sponsorship

This is NOT the right fit if you:

• Come primarily from a DE / DBA / ETL tools background (Informatica, Talend, stored procedures)
• Are SQL-only with no software engineering foundation
• Are currently in a pure management role without hands-on technical work
