Software Service Engineer

About the Role

Our ideal candidate is a software engineer with a proven track record delivering production quality software over, at least, the last five years. We are building out a technical platform for insurance, underpinning modelling and production services. This platform is cloud based, deployed in AWS, utilising several of the Amazon managed services (EMR, ECS, Redshift, Lambda etc.) as well as custom software. This person will be focused on configuration, maintenance, updates, and new innovations for our platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical skills designing, developing, testing, deploying, and improving software and configurations
• Write reliable, scalable, maintainable software primarily in Python and an in-house proprietary language (though we use other languages as well)
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise

Qualifications

• BS Computer Science or Mathematics
• A mid-level engineer (3-5 years of experience), preferably with a background that spans some crossover between backend production engineering

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Python
• Skilled in the use of pandas to design and maintain efficient, testable data pipelines, performing ingestion, cleaning, transformation, and aggregation of large, structured datasets to support analytics and downstream applications.
• Experience/familiarity with at least one functional programming language
• Comfortable working in an emerging growth company
