ServiceNow Senior Software Engineer

Title: Sr. ServiceNow Software Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 3+ year Contract
Pay Range: $70 - $80/hr
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Skillset / Experience:
The Senior Engineer is responsible for the complex backend engineering that connects ServiceNow to the broader enterprise ecosystem. This role handles the high-volume, high-complexity integration work that enables asset correlation, event ingestion, and service intelligence at scale.
Unlike Senior Developers, who focus on platform-native automation and applications, Senior Engineers bring traditional software engineering discipline to ServiceNow, ensuring integrations are scalable, resilient, and production-grade.Strategic Purpose
The Senior Engineer operates at the intersection of ServiceNow and enterprise infrastructure. This role ensures that Service-Aware transformation is technically feasible at scale by enabling reliable data ingestion, event correlation, and backend processing.
By applying pro-code practices and modern engineering standards, the Senior Engineer prevents the platform from becoming a bottleneck as service visibility and automation expand.Key Responsibilities
Complex Integration Engineering

• Build high-performance, bidirectional integrations between ServiceNow and external systems
• Support asset, event, and telemetry ingestion from cloud, mainframe, and proprietary platforms
• Ensure integration reliability, error handling, and recoverability

Backend Development & Data Processing

• Develop advanced Script Includes, API processors, and MID Server logic
• Implement complex data transformation and correlation logic
• Support service visibility and data scoring at scale

Pro-Code Development & CI/CD

• Use ServiceNow CLI and IDE for Greenfield development
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and version control
• Enforce engineering standards consistent with enterprise software teams

Performance & Scalability Optimization

• Optimize platform performance for high-volume transactions
• Identify and mitigate throughput or latency constraints
• Support sustained growth in data ingestion and automation

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software or integration engineering roles
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), Java, and API development
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow integrations and MID Server
• Proven ability to design scalable, resilient backend systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating ServiceNow with cloud platforms, mainframes, or event streams
• Familiarity with Kafka or similar streaming technologies
• Background in highly regulated or high-availability environments
• ServiceNow or relevant engineering certifications
