We are looking for an AVIONICS/AEROSPACE EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER to support the development of embedded avionics systems. Ideal candidate lives in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater, FL or Grand Rapids, MI area, or locally in Florida or Michigan - but can work remotely (from either state). This is an estimated 12+ month long temporary W2 contract supporting avionics/aerospace engineering.
This person will be responsible for development, analysis, integration, and testing of complex hardware for an aviation system. This project will require scripting and potentially coding in C language for an operating system that is similar to a Linux environment. Experience with aviation protocols is highly preferred. Other responsibilities include validation of high- and low-level requirements, decomposition of requirements, with V&V tasks of systems and software, traceability requirements, test procedures, writing documentation, and the digitization of analogs, etc..
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be committed to working a long term W2 contract
- Reside in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater, FL area or Grand Rapids, MI area, OR living within the state of FL or MI and willing to travel to work onsite if/as needed in future (to closest office location)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar)
- 5 years’ experience in embedded systems software development, verification, validation and hardware/software integration.
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience of the above, within the Avionics (highly preferred) or Aerospace Industry
- DO-178C highly preferred
- Comfortable with V&V tasks of systems and software, traceability requirements, test procedures, writing documentation, etc.
- Experience with interfaces and digital protocols
- Strong scripting and/or C Language coding for an embedded system
- Ability to translate customer requirements into effective software
- Understanding of how to write high and low level requirements
- Willing to write documentation
- Exposure to Aviation Protocols and interfaces (ARINC429,ARINC*25, Discretes, MIL standards, Time sensitive networks (TSN), CAN)
Highly preferred experiences:
- Knowledge of DO178 level A design assurance for certification
- Hands on experience with test equipment (o-scopes power supplies, etc.)
- Specific integration experiences: Software/Software, Hardware/Software, LRU and Systems.
- Familiar with remote data concentration systems
- Familiar with Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Wind River operating systems
