Cloud Security Engineer
InquisIT seeking a highly skilled Cloud Security Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will secure and maintain the integrity of AWS environments and applications while leveraging your deep expertise in IT concepts, cloud service models, and cyberspace security. You will play a crucial role in protecting cloud-based assets, automating security processes, and providing expert guidance on enterprise-level security strategies. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in cloud security, automation, and extensive IT knowledge who are passionate about protecting organizational assets and enhancing cybersecurity practices.
Please note that expected start date is late January 2025. Position is remote, but candidates living in the state of Maine, or willing to relocate to Maine are preferred (relocation assistance is available if needed). Active Secret Security Clearance or higher is required.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage Security in AWS: Oversee security operations for applications and services in AWS, ensuring adherence to best practices and security policies.
- Implement IA Procedures: Execute Information Assurance procedures, including running Fortify scans, conducting STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) checks, and managing POAM (Plan of Action and Milestones) documentation.
- Automate Security Workflows: Utilize scripting skills to support automation of security tasks, streamlining workflow and improving response times.
- Cloud Service Model Expertise: Apply knowledge of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) models, including supporting virtualization tools and techniques, to enhance cloud security architecture and practices.
- IT System Testing and Enterprise Architecture: Conduct thorough IT system testing and evaluation to maintain a secure infrastructure and collaborate on enterprise architecture strategies for enhanced security.
- Provide Expert Guidance: Offer technical guidance and strategic advice on cyberspace security issues, influencing best practices across the organization.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience securing AWS environments and associated applications.
- Technical Knowledge: Broad understanding of IT concepts, methods, and principles across related technical areas, including cloud service models and enterprise security practices.
- Skills: Proficiency with Information Assurance procedures, Fortify scans, STIG compliance processes, POAM documentation, and familiarity with cloud security platform tools like PrismaCloud (preferred).
- Scripting & Automation: Skilled in scripting languages to support security workflow automation.
- Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance or higher.
