About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SFMC Lead Developer with deep hands‑on expertise across Automation Studio, Journey Builder, complex audience segmentation, Marketing Cloud Personalization (MCP), and enterprise integrations. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable operating in a pharma environment, with strong data governance sensibilities and the ability to translate business objectives into scalable omnichannel journeys. The ideal candidate will partner closely with platform architects (e.g., CRM, Web, CMS) while leading technical design and building for Salesforce Marketing Cloud programs.

This is a hands‑on technical role, not purely strategic, requiring someone who can architect, develop, troubleshoot, optimize, and operationalize journeys at scale.

Key Responsibilities

1. SFMC Architecture & Development

  • Lead the build and optimization of journeys in Journey Builder, including multi‑branch paths, triggers, decision splits, and event‑based orchestration.
  • Build automations in Automation Studio, including SQL‑based segmentation, scheduled automations, and data hygiene processes.
  • Develop modular, compliant email and content blocks, leveraging AMPscript, SSJS, and data extensions best practices.
  • Implement and optimize Einstein features and predictive capabilities within SFMC
  • Own the final audit and quality validation of campaigns executed by team members, ensuring adherence to defined processes, compliance standards, technical accuracy, and client requirements before deployment.

2. Data & Integration Leadership

  • Design and maintain data models, data extensions, relational mappings, and business rules aligned with CRM, website, and analytics inputs.
  • Lead integrations between SFMC and:
  • Veeva CRM (triggers, segmentation, report extraction)
  • WordPress VIP for personalization, tagging, and behavioral capture feeding MCP
  • Enterprise Data Lakes, CDPs, or analytics environments
  • Ensure data dictionary, taxonomy alignment, and governance across all activation channels.

3. Marketing Cloud Personalization (MCP)

  • Implement MCP tagging, site wide java scripting, custom scripting (if any) rule sets, decisioning logic, personalization recipes, and identity resolution approaches.
  • Partner with web and analytics teams to ensure MCP instrumentation is clean, compliant, and aligned to journey logic.
  • Optimize hybrid (rule‑based + algorithmic) MCP experiences based on campaign goals.

4. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Enablement

  • Work closely with omnichannel strategists, CRM leads, web/CMS teams, and localization leads.
  • Provide documentation, technical playbooks, and training for marketing, operations, and downstream teams.
  • Participate in solution design discussions, validation sessions, gap assessment, and technical Q&A.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of hands‑on SFMC development and architecture experience at scale.
  • Advanced mastery of Journey Builder, Automation Studio, SQL, AMPscript, SSJS, and SFMC data modeling.
  • Proven experience with MCP implementation, including tagging, decisioning, and integration with websites (e.g., WordPress VIP).
  • Strong familiarity with Veeva CRM data structures and how CRM segments feed omnichannel journeys.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting pharma or life sciences omnichannel operations.
  • Comfortable working cross‑platform (CRM → SFMC → Web) in complex enterprise ecosystems.
  • Based in Japan with ability for regular on‑site work.
  • Language proficiency: required in fluent Japanese.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Veeva Vault / Promomats metadata or workflow integration points.
  • Familiarity with data lakes, GA/GA4 analytics, and tagging plans for paid/owned channels.
  • Understanding of AI‑assisted accelerators for segmentation, QA, tagging, or content workflows.
  • Exposure to enterprise personalization strategies across web, SFMC, and CRM ecosystems.
