senior software engineer
$120,000 - $200,000 cash | $150k - $300k total comp incl equity |
san fran (preferred) OR us remote
we’re working with a small, sharp team building ai agents businesses can actually trust - designed for real-world deployment with human oversight, error prevention, and full auditability baked in.
the company’s led by second-time founders, pre-seed funded, and backed by well-known operators from oracle, bessemer, and beyond.
they’re now hiring a senior product engineer to help shape both the core platform and the future of enterprise-safe ai. think: live collaboration between humans and agents, verifiable workflows, and safety infrastructure that scales.
they're looking for a 100% hands on software engineer, not someone who's a lead or manager. you'll be the 4th engineer in the business.
why this is different:
- full ownership: build, ship, and iterate on entire features - product input expected, not optional
- small team: you’ll be engineer #4, with a seat at the table on architecture and direction
- mission-critical work: building trust layers, not just ui - every commit supports agent reliability and safety
what you’ll build:
- ai infra: agent workflows with human-in-the-loop oversight, real-time approval systems, action verifiability
- safety systems: enterprise dashboards, audit trails, permissioning, and error correction tooling
- collab tooling: multi-user agent builders, context-aware assistants, and team-based workflows
- platform/core: scalable agent engine, api integrations, alerts, and infra that can support large deployments
none negotiables:
- 4+ yrs full-stack exp shipping prod apps (js/ts, react, node, mongo)
- built with llms/embeddings or shipped ai-native features
- startup context - comfortable wearing many hats and helping set direction
- product sensibility - care about ux and usability, not just how clean the code looks
bonus if you’ve touched:
- next.js 15+, server components, websockets/event streaming
- semantic search, vector dbs, cloud infra (vercel/aws), auth systems (clerk/oauth)
- ai tooling stacks, agent frameworks, or real-time data systems
tech stack:
- next.js 15, typescript, tailwind, node.js, mongodb atlas, websockets, vercel edge, openai/anthropic/google llm orchestration
comp + perks:
- $150k–$300k total comp (base + 0.25–1.5% equity)
- full health (you + 80% fam), $3k setup budget, $2k learning stipend
- unlimited pto (3wk minimum encouraged), early exercise options
- hybrid with quarterly offsites, or fully remote from the us
how they hire:
- intro chat with founder → live coding + system design → product deep dive + culture fit
- they move fast: 1–2 weeks from hello to offer
if you’re excited about building human-supervised ai from the ground up, owning key systems, and being early on something with deep impact—this is worth a closer look.
