Senior AI Engineer

The Role

This is one of the most important technical hires we are making. As a Senior AI Engineer at ieso, you'll sit at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI, designing, building, and maintaining the systems that power our AI-driven digital therapy platform.

You won't just build AI features. You'll lead the evolution of our agentic architecture, translate cutting-edge research into production grade software, and act as a technical ambassador for our AI capabilities, communicating clearly with customers, clinical teams, and commercial partners about how our stack works and why it matters.

We operate to the highest standards of clinical safety and reliability, because the people using our platform are managing real mental health challenges. This is a high-ownership, high impact role for someone who cares deeply about both engineering excellence and the people we serve.

What You'll Be Doing

🤖 Design and build agentic AI systems - including multi-agent orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangGraph) at the core of our digital therapy product

🔄 Lead our architecture migration - moving our conversational AI bot from legacy frameworks to modern agentic systems, improving developer velocity and feature extensibility

⚡ Build fast inference integrations - reducing end-to-end message latency to enable more responsive, real-time AI interactions

🧠 Develop memory agent systems - supporting personalised, context-aware therapeutic conversations at scale

☁️ Maintain and improve AI infrastructure - deploying and hosting models in our Azure cloud environment for production

🔬 Bridge research and production - working closely with AI scientists to translate prototypes into robust, scalable software

📊 Build telemetry and observability tooling - monitoring AI models in production to ensure reliability, quality, and clinical safety

👨 🏫 Mentor and grow engineers - disseminating good engineering practice and supporting the technical development of the team

🌍 Act as a technical ambassador - representing ieso's AI capabilities confidently to customers, partners, and clinical stakeholders

✅ Bring exceptional technical depth you set the standard for engineering quality and others look to you for direction

✅ Have strong Python skills and a track record of delivering production software systems in complex, fast-moving environments

✅ Have hands on experience with LLMs, generative AI, or agentic frameworks including prompt engineering, LLM APIs, or multi-agent systems

✅ Are an excellent communicator, able to explain complex AI systems clearly to non-technical audiences including clinical teams and commercial partners

✅ Have a proven ability to mentor others and elevate the engineers around you

✅ Can see the bigger picture, making pragmatic engineering trade-offs without losing sight of outcomes

✅ Are energised by the pace of change in AI engineering and embrace AI-assisted development tools as part of how you work

Bonus Points For...

⭐ Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, or similar

⭐ Experience with LLMOps / MLOps — deploying and operating LLMs or ML models in production

⭐ Familiarity with Azure cloud services, Azure ML, AKS, or Azure DevOps

⭐ Experience working in a regulated environment such as healthcare or finance

⭐ Background delivering software in a research or clinical setting

⭐ BSc or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
