Location: Remote
Reports To: VP of Engineering, Software
I/ONX is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our team developed the world’s first platform to enable CPUs, GPUs, ASICs, and FPGAs to work together for AI and High Performance Compute workloads. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.
Role Overview:
As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll be both a technical leader and a hands-on builder. You’ll shape the design and development of software systems that interface closely with advanced hardware, while also writing the code that brings those designs to life. You’ll collaborate with hardware architects, systems engineers, and product leaders to deliver software that is not only highly performant and reliable, but also scalable enough to power the next generation of AI and HPC workloads.
This role is for someone who thrives on building—driving architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and rolling up their sleeves to create clean, production-ready systems that push the limits of performance.
What You’ll Do
Who You Are
Required Experience
10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping production systems.
Proficiency in Rust, with deep experience building performance-critical, concurrent, or systems-level applications.
Strong background in HPC, GPU/accelerator programming (CUDA, ROCm, OpenCL), or distributed systems.
Solid understanding of computer architecture, parallelism, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX) and their hardware interactions.
Proven track record of building APIs, SDKs, or developer tools used in production environments.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading architectural discussions.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (PhD a plus).
Preferred
Experience with compilers, graph optimization, or runtime systems for ML/HPC.
Background with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in HPC/AI settings.
Contributions to Rust open-source projects, particularly in the HPC/AI ecosystem.
Knowledge of networking, storage, or I/O optimization in high-throughput environments.
