Quant Developer (Python)/Trading Systems Engineer : start-up Quant Fund : $200k + bonus and equity

An exciting start-up quant fund are now seeking their first founding quant software engineer. This full-stack role is pivotal for transforming research concepts into functional, reliable production trading systems. In a lean start-up environment, this individual must bridge the gap between quantitative development and foundational infrastructure management, possessing a broader skill set than a typical quant developer in a larger, more specialised firm.

This role differs significantly from a pure Software Engineer due to the critical need for understanding financial markets, trading strategies and the nuances of quantitative data. The primary operational need is to bring the founder's research to life and building the engine and pipelines to run it.

• Role: core early member, high responsibility available
• Scope of work: signal research, end-to-end infra, trading implementation
• Pay: up to $200k salary, performance based bonuses
• Opportunity: partner + equity in fund in next 12 months
• AUM: raising >300M fund within 12 months
• Asset: crypto, equity, options

Responsibilities include:

• Algorithm Implementation: Translate the statistical models and trading logic developed by the founder into clean, robust, efficient, and extensible code suitable for live trading
• Trading System development: Architect and build the core trading application. This includes integrating with the APIs for order routing, managing order lifecycle, handling real-time market data feeds, processing execution reports, and ensuring system resilience
• Data Pipeline foundation: Establish the initial pipelines for ingesting data from market data vendors
• Scaling back-testing framework to implement trading strategies
• Infrastructure management to include initial set up of cloud computing and systems

Skills profile:

• Software Engineering: strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, software design patterns and testing methodologies
• Strong Python
• C++ is highly beneficial
• Rapid development, data analysis
• Solid understanding of financial markets, asset classes and crypto
• Trading concepts and quantitative strategies
• Data management to include experience with SQL and data modelling
• APIs and Market Data ingestion
• Linux/Unix environments
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerization (Docker)
• Computer Science degree or similar
