The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to design and scale backend systems for a high-performance, globally distributed SaaS platform.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with our Engineering Manager, frontend developers, and product stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges, improve performance, and shape the direction of our product. We’re looking for engineers who value stability, deep product knowledge, and long-term growth with the team.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop backend services using Ruby on Rails.
• Architect scalable systems for high data volumes and traffic.
• Optimize performance across database, application, and infrastructure layers.
• Implement background processing with Sidekiq and Redis.
• Contribute to strong engineering practices (reviews, testing, documentation).

Requirements

• 7+ years backend development, including 5+ years with Rails.
• Proven success building scalable, high-performance systems.
• Strong skills in PostgreSQL/MySQL and query optimization.
• Experience with Sidekiq or similar background job frameworks.
• Solid understanding of modern architecture patterns.
• Remote-first experience and long-term commitment in past roles.

Compensation & Contract

• Contract Type: Independent contractor (preferred).
• Location: Argentina, Brazil, Poland, Romania, Spain, Portugal.
• Rate: $50 USD/hour, ~40 hours/week.
• Remote-first role with long-term potential.
