The Revenue Product Group in Hubspot have made it their mission to deliver a set of world-class payment systems that give our 100,000 customers a seamless and secure billing and payments experience, allowing them to put their energy into being able to “Grow Better”.

Right now, Revenue @ HubSpot are looking to welcome a number of people-focused technical leaders with a Backend view who are passionate about automation innovation.

While contributing daily to HubSpot’s code base, these TLs will lead small autonomous Backend teams with a focus on automation solutions supporting customer billing and payments. Teams in HubSpot are kept small and nimble to maximise ownership and to eliminate scale challenges and communication overhead (e.g. very few meetings that could have been a Slack message!). This commitment to keeping teams small also allows leads to remain deeply technical and product-focused as well as being able to spend time coaching and developing the great developers they work alongside.

We write lots of microservices, primarily with Java 11. Our APIs are RESTful and use the minimal Dropwizard framework. We utilize Kafka and other tools to build asynchronous scalable systems dealing with multiple sources of truth for our data.

Our product teams are split-stack and can build whatever is needed without external dependencies or approval. This process is informed by many feedback loops: usability testing, direct customer interactions, usage tracking, customer support and other stakeholders, so the team decides what ideas to build, how best to implement them and own their ongoing operation. What we’d like to see

• Some previous team, technical or pod lead experience is preferred - managing engineers or projects and taking responsibility for the team’s software design and delivery
• A continued passion to contribute to the code base and for product feature development and product innovation
• Experience working closely with, and contributing ideas and feedback to, product management and designers to help create a solution to exceed our customers needs
• The ability to work collaboratively with the team to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture
• Comfort performing code reviews for engineers at all levels
• Coaching and mentorship experience
• A track record in partnering successfully with recruiting to build remarkable engineering teams
• We are language agnostic. We aren’t overly concerned with tech stack - if you are interested in learning new things, we’re interested in teaching you.
