Software Engineer (IBMi AS400)

Join a forward-thinking team where legacy meets innovation. Our client is seeking a seasoned AS400 Developer with deep RPG expertise to help drive modernization and integration across ERP platforms in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and support AS400 systems and platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, PMs, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions.
• Write and refine technical user stories with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Apply development best practices including TDD, code reviews, and secure coding.
• Support full-stack development efforts and infrastructure initiatives.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives.
• Drive integration efforts between AS400 and modern technologies.
• Proactively resolve defects and manage technical debt.
• Champion continuous improvement across development methodologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years AS400 Development, including RPG, CL, DB2, ILE, SQL.
• Experience with ERP systems, especially in supply chain domains.
• Exposure to AWS, Java, MongoDB, Aurora, and open-source frameworks.
• Familiarity with version control systems and TDD practices.
• Preferred: Application server configuration/administration, distribution environments.

• Agile-minded, adaptable, and team-oriented.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Hands-on problem solver with solid communication skills.

Work Setup

• Fully virtual, though team may request occasional onsite collaboration
