Job Description: The Lead System Engineer will lead technical projects, managing a diverse team, and supporting the design, development, and delivery of advanced communications systems within a military setting, preferably with experience in air operations or air traffic control. Experience in the Middle East is highly preferred. Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a cross-functional team of engineers and technicians, ensuring effective collaboration, adherence to project timelines, and achievement of team goals. Interface with ranking client officers and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Oversee the development, release delivery, and support of the Prime Mission Equipment (PME), working with Program Manager and customers to address any operational issues and ensure product quality, performance and customer satisfaction.
- Prioritize product evolution, advances to system architecture, and address any operational or technical issues. Define development strategy and product goals, and proactively evaluate compliance with new standards, emerging technologies, and customer needs.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals. Serve as a secondary point of contact for key internal and external stakeholders related to PME items. Monitor, document, and report on project timelines, budgets, risks, mitigation efforts, and successes.
- Leverage your expertise in C4ISR systems, command and control, communications, and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance technologies to advise on product roadmaps, conduct performance assessments, and provide recommendations for system refreshes.
- Work with engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges, ensuring that customer requirements are addressed and that all system components meet operational and performance criteria.
- Translate customer needs and non-technical feedback into actionable engineering direction. Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications or related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in military organizations, preferably in air operations or air traffic control.
- Program management training/experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working in the Middle East is preferred.
- Expertise in computer programming, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and system hardware components (e.g., networks, LANS, RAID).
- Strong understanding of military tactical data links (LINK-16, TADIL-J, TADIL-A), VOIP, and PBX.
- Experience with networking, including network design, IP addresses, DNS, routers, and switches.
- Strong understanding of C4ISR technologies, including command and control, communications, and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance.
- Knowledge of software design/programming and experience in software sustainment from cradle to grave.
- Expertise in software testing, verification, and validation processes.
