About HiO
HiO is an AI Business Partner for small and medium business owners- helping them grow their business through every customer conversation, acting as a proactive partner that surfaces opportunities and flags what actually needs the owner's attention. We've raised a $16M seed round backed by investors behind OpenAI and Anthropic, alongside Wix.
We're a high-talent, fast-moving team, and we're just getting started.
Why this role exists
Small business owners are some of the most capable operators anywhere. What they don't have is time, and they've never had a true partner in the work: someone who knows their customers, spots what's changing, and acts on it. AI finally makes that partner possible, and building it well is a genuine product craft problem. How autonomous should it be? When does it act, when does it ask? How does trust get earned, interaction by interaction?
Those are the questions you'll wake up with.
What you'll do
- Own product areas end to end: discovery, spec, ship, measure, iterate. You'll write the docs, run the calls, and sit with engineering every day.
- Talk to owners weekly. Salon owners, trainers, groomers, store owners, and more. You'll know their names, their customers, and what a good week looks like for them.
- Shape how autonomy feels: what HiO does on its own, what it asks first, and how confidence grows over time. This is one of the hardest and most interesting problems in the product.
- Drive product-led growth: activation, the aha moment, free to paid, expansion. The product carries its own adoption and you'll own the numbers behind it.
- Validate fast. Ship experiments, read the analytics and the feedback, and let what you learn each week decide what happens the next.
- Sweat the craft. You'll work closely with design and often be the taste in the room. Every card, every word, every interaction should feel like it came from a partner who knows the business.
You're probably a fit if
- You've got 5+ years in product, working shoulder to shoulder with engineering across the whole lifecycle.
- You've spent real time building for SMBs. You understand how a 4-person salon decides, buys, and stays, and you've seen it in your own retention data.
- You've lived the early-stage startup grind before.
- You've run product-led growth and can talk concretely about an activation metric you moved and how.
- You've built AI-native products and have a working point of view on evals, autonomy, and how trust between a person and a model actually forms. AI isn't just in the products you ship, it's in how you work: discovery, research, prototyping, decisions.
- You've done 0 to 1 and you're at your best in ambiguity, turning a fuzzy space into something people use.
- You have genuine design sensibility. Figma fluency is nice; taste is the requirement. You notice spacing, tone, and rhythm, and you care that the details land.
