Your Impact in this Role

As a member of our Data Experiences team, you'll be at the forefront of building access to one of the world's most comprehensive clinico-genomic datasets. As a key player in our innovative Data Engineering organization, you'll collaborate with brilliant minds across both internal teams and external research partners to develop solutions that bridge the gap between complex genomic data and life-changing medical breakthroughs.

As a Senior Software Engineer, You Will

Design, architect, and implement software systems that leverage best practices and are designed for scale.
Be responsible for developing and owning cloud native applications that span multiple domains across frontend, backend, and testing.
Deploy and operate software with reliability and scale for our users.
Collaborate with product managers, bioinformaticians, scientists, and other engineers.
Own deliverables from idea to feature completion and production deployment
Improve and adopt exceptional engineering practices for the organization.
Mentor other engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and education.

About You

4+ years development experience in Go, Python, Typescript, Javascript, Java, or similar
2+ years of experience developing and maintaining SPA’s on frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue.js or similar.
Proficiency with distributed systems built on cloud infrastructure — AWS, GCP, Azure or similar
Experience developing and owning serverless (e.g., AWS Api Gateway, Lambda) and container-based microservices
Experience implementing and passion for driving AI adoption in engineering workflows
Experience architecting large, high-scale durable back-end or front-end systems
You believe in owning your cloud infrastructure and have experience driving changes through CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (aws-cdk, terraform, pulumi)
Thought leadership and a successful track record mentoring other engineers
Affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery
Fluent in English, both written and verbal

Pluses

Bachelor/Master of Science in Computer Science
Familiarity working with regulated software systems (e.g., HIPAA, ISO, FDA)
Familiarity and experience developing and architecting event-driven architectures.

Expected Helix Base: $95,000-$125,000 MXN/monthly
Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 5% of your annual salary

Hybrid & Remote Flexibility:
Hybrid: Our office is located at WeWork - Varsovia, Mexico City. We gather intentionally in our office space once per week to work on things like pair programming/live collaboration, skillshare sessions, social segments, team lunches, and volunteering opportunities. Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.
Remote (for team members living 80 km or more outside Mexico City): We'll invite you to our CDMX office 3-6 times a year for key training and team meetings. These visits are a great chance to connect in person and strengthen our Helix community. Helix cover travel and accommodation.

What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week

We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.

What To Expect During Your First 90 Days

First 30 days: You’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.

Day 30 - 60: You’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.

Day 60 - 90: You’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.
