The Role
You’ll be an end-to-end design owner, shaping experiences on both the Hearth Display and our mobile app. Families trust us with their most important logistics—time, routines, and to-dos— your work will directly impact how they connect, communicate, and thrive together.
You’ll turn complexity into simplicity, design into delight, and bring design excellence into every corner of our product.
What You'll Do
- Own the full design lifecycle—research, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished execution.
- Translate the messy realities of family life into elegant, intuitive solutions that feel effortless.
- Use design as a strategic lever to drive both customer love and business outcomes.
- Lead discovery work: research, usability testing, and validation that ground our product decisions in real family needs.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering to scope, iterate, and ship work that makes a tangible impact.
- Craft stories that rally the team around the customer journey and help communicate features to our community.
- Scale our design system to ensure consistency and beauty across every touchpoint.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio of consumer products that people love.
- Mastery across UX and visual design: interaction, IA, typography, and layout.
- Confidence in tools like Figma and strong fluency in research, prototyping, and end-to-end design thinking.
- A balance of independence and collaboration—able to run with projects, but also thrive in cross-functional problem-solving.
- Experience weaving research insights into design decisions.
- Exceptional storytelling skills—you don’t just design, you help others feel the experience you’re creating.
- Excitement to build technology that matters in the daily lives of families.
Bonus Points
- Designed for multi-user, collaborative systems (households, classrooms, teams).
- Background in consumer hardware, consumer SaaS, or edtech.
- Experience with gamification or motivation design.
