Description

Bloomberg’s CTO Office is responsible for defining and delivering the long-term strategy for metadata and semantic data across the organisation. The Metadata Strategy team oversees how metadata is structured, governed, and used to support data consistency, discoverability, and interoperability at scale.

Bloomberg’s Metadata Platform provides the foundational infrastructure for managing semantic models and metadata across internal systems and client-facing workflows. It supports model-driven enrichment, large-scale distribution pipelines, and cross-domain interoperability to help ensure data accuracy, alignment, and ease of integration.

The Technical Product Manager will lead the roadmap and development of core platform components, working closely with engineering teams, ontology specialists, analysts, and business stakeholders to build scalable and reliable metadata infrastructure.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Define and deliver the long-term product strategy and roadmap for metadata platform infrastructure
• Align platform requirements with enterprise data strategy, FAIR principles, and AI/ML enablement objectives
• Lead development of modular ingestion pipelines and scalable onboarding workflows for internal data sources
• Partner with engineering to deliver services for automated profiling, enrichment, validation, and metadata distribution
• Implement governance capabilities including metadata provenance, lineage, versioning, and compliance
• Maintain a prioritised backlog, write user stories, define acceptance criteria, and support agile development cycles
• Communicate platform vision, progress, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Translate domain use cases into functional requirements for ingestion, storage, enrichment, and distribution layers
• Support architectural decision-making to ensure modularity, reusability, and long-term scalability
• Gather and prioritise requirements from ontology engineers, data owners, AI teams, and product teams
• Coordinate cross-functional alignment between engineering and domain experts to ensure metadata solutions are fit for purpose

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• 8+ years of experience in technical product management
• Strong technical background or engineering experience
• Experience defining strategy and roadmaps for technical platforms or infrastructure products
• Familiarity with agile product delivery and backlog management
• Understanding of semantic metadata, enterprise metadata platforms, and relevant industry tools
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and senior leadership teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and business functions
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience

Preferred experience

• Experience with semantic technologies and W3C standards
• Understanding of financial markets and financial products
• Experience with system integration and data onboarding pipelines
• Involvement in open-source initiatives
• Experience working with ontologies, linked data, or graph technologies
• Experience building tools and workflows supporting financial products or services
