Lead Software Engineer | £60,000 - £90,000

We're working with a high-impact digital transformation consultancy delivering mission-critical public sector services on this exciting opportunity. We are looking for a heavy-hitting technical leader to drive large-scale engineering initiatives using a modern, tech-agnostic stack including .NET, Java, Python, and Cloud Native architectures.

The Role

  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership and architectural oversight for high-value digital services that impact millions of citizens.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary delivery teams in a fast-paced Agile environment, working with Scrum, Kanban, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Architect and deploy scalable, secure cloud-native solutions across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Act as a strategic technical advisor to clients, steering the technology agenda and navigating complex digital transformation roadmaps.
  • Set the engineering standard by promoting high-quality code, robust CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.

What You'll Need

  • Extensive experience leading Full Stack teams with deep technical expertise in .NET, Java, or Python, alongside modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Proven track record of mentoring and coaching engineers to elevate team delivery quality and technical excellence.
  • Strong background in a consulting or software house environment, with the ability to manage senior stakeholders and complex client requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud architecture (AWS or Azure) and a solid understanding of Microservices and API design.
  • A passion for technology-agnostic problem solving and a drive to stay at the forefront of technical innovation.
