Senior Applied Scientist – Amazon Q Developer Science

Salary: 150,400 USD – 260,000 USD

Location: Seattle, WA (Remote or Hybrid)

Amazon is hiring a Senior Applied Scientist to build AI-powered tools that transform how developers work. You’ll work on Amazon Q Developer, collaborating closely with AWS services like Bedrock, SageMaker and the AWS IDE Toolkit to deliver end-to-end ML solutions that push scientific boundaries.

What you’ll do

• Build and deploy ML models and AI agent–driven developer tools

• Lead ambiguous, high-impact scientific problem areas requiring breakthroughs

• Partner with software engineers to deliver end-to-end modeling solutions

• Shape long-term product and technology direction for developer-focused AI services

• Run technical discussions with scientists, engineers and customers

• Recommend modeling strategies, architectures and design approaches

• Influence the evolution of AWS AI services used by millions of developers

What you’ll need

• 3+ years building ML models for real-world applications

• Experience delivering end-to-end ML solutions

• Strong scientific judgment and ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces

• Ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and research teams

• Passion for developer tools, AI agents or large-scale ML systems
