C# Software Engineer | £50,000 - £70,000
We're working with a fast-growing laboratory automation specialist whose software powers critical scientific research across the globe. You’ll be building the digital workflows and instrumentation software that drives real-world machines, transforming the way scientists and engineers innovate.
This is a high-impact role where you will bridge the gap between high-level software and physical hardware. You will work across the full stack—from embedded systems to desktop interfaces—using modern C#/.NET to deliver robust, mission-critical solutions.
The Role
- Design and develop high-quality software across desktop, embedded, and server environments using C# and the .NET framework.
- Build intuitive user interfaces for scientific instrumentation using XAML and Windows application frameworks.
- Integrate hardware and software systems using IoT protocols including MQTT and OPC/UA for seamless automation.
- Shape the technical roadmap by contributing to architectural decisions and implementing modern DevOps pipelines.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with a cross-functional team of architects and product managers.
What You'll Need
- Extensive experience in C#/.NET development with a deep understanding of software design principles and SOLID patterns.
- Proven track record building Windows-based applications with XAML and managing SQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with IoT communication protocols like MQTT or OPC/UA and working within Linux environments.
- Proactive approach to testing, CI/CD, and a level of comfort leveraging AI tools to accelerate development workflows.
- Excellent communication skills for a collaborative hybrid environment where you’ll solve complex engineering challenges.
