Director of Marketing – CDMO
Location: United States (Remote)
Reporting to: VP Commercial / Chief Commercial Officer
Overview
A rapidly growing CDMO (Contract Development & Manufacturing Organisation) is seeking a Director of Marketing to lead the execution of its global marketing strategy. This role will be instrumental in driving brand visibility, generating qualified leads, and supporting commercial growth across key biopharma clients.
Working cross-functionally with Business Development, Technical Operations, and Leadership, you will translate strategic objectives into high-impact marketing initiatives that position the organisation as a trusted outsourcing partner.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Execution
- Execute a comprehensive, data-driven marketing strategy aligned with commercial objectives
- Support positioning of the organisation across key service offerings (e.g., biologics, cell & gene therapy, small molecules)
- Partner with commercial leadership to refine go-to-market strategies
Demand Generation
- Develop and manage multi-channel campaigns to drive pipeline growth (digital, content, events, ABM)
- Own lead generation targets and optimise conversion across the funnel
- Manage marketing automation platforms and CRM integration (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce)
Brand & Content
- Strengthen brand presence and awareness within the CDMO and broader biopharma market
- Lead content strategy including whitepapers, case studies, webinars, and thought leadership
- Ensure consistent messaging across all channels and regions
Market Insights
- Monitor industry trends, competitor positioning, and customer needs within the CDMO landscape
- Provide insights to support strategic decisions, service development, and campaign targeting
Commercial Support
- Develop sales enablement materials and tools to support Business Development teams
- Align marketing activities with key accounts and strategic growth areas
- Support major industry events, conferences, and client engagement initiatives
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop a small to mid-sized marketing team (or manage agencies where applicable)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders across commercial, scientific, and executive teams
- Manage external vendors, agencies, and budgets effectively
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Life Sciences, or related discipline (MBA preferred)
- 8–12+ years of B2B marketing experience within CDMO, CRO, or life sciences services
- Proven experience executing successful demand generation and digital marketing campaigns
- Strong understanding of the drug development and outsourcing landscape
- Experience supporting complex, technical sales cycles
- Proficiency with CRM and marketing automation tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to measure and optimise campaign performance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a high-growth or private equity-backed environment
- Exposure to multiple therapeutic modalities (biologics, CGT, small molecules)
- Experience supporting global marketing initiatives, particularly within the US market
